Youth Program Late Fall 2021 - this schedule will begin once Thrive’s new studio is complete, date TBD.

Our youth classes start at 3 years old and continue up to the teen years (placement is always dependent on the individual student, their abilities, maturity and understanding). Once students reach the highest youth levels they have the option to move to the pre-professional program or, if they prefer a less intense schedule they can join the Adult/Open program.

Performance opportunities include an annual recital and roles in company productions. At Thrive Ballet rehearsals for Level 3 and up are separate from technique class in order to maintain learning and growth in class while focusing on performance in rehearsals. Performances are optional and, with rehearsals separate from classes students who prefer not performing do not lose valuable class time.

Kinesioplay: (pre-ballet/creative movement): for students 3-5 years old - Kinesioplay taps into children's natural curiosity to help them explore dance, movement, and music. Students learn about rhythm using their bodies, poems, rhymes, percussion instruments, and music. Improvisation, acting, scarves, and ribbons are all part of the fun. Kinsesioplay provides a safe, nurturing environment for growth in areas including: sensory awareness, self-awareness, dynamics, focus, music recognition, listening skills, coordination, self-control, spatial awareness, rhythm, creativity, self-esteem, arts appreciation, balance, speed/tempo, flow, and imagination.  Kinesioplay students take one class per week.

Level 1 Ballet:  For students 5-6 years old - this class introduces some formal ballet technique, trickier coordination and putting steps together in combinations, while maintaining the connection to imagination and creativity. Learning to align the body for proper posture and placement, learning about the muscles and bones, and applying that knowledge to dancing and learning about energy patterns begins here. Level 1 dancers start to learn more ballet terminology.  Expression, artistry and love for ballet is emphasized in a fun, inviting class. Level 1 dancers participate in one class per week.

Students continue to work on alignment, placement, turn out, and learning to move without tension. Level 2 dancers participate in one class per week.

Level 3 dancers acquire more terminology and build on their understanding of how their body moves. Artistry and expression are incorporated into more technical steps.
