Pre-professional Program Late Fall 2021 - the Pre-professional Program classes will begin once Thrive’s new studio is complete, date TBD. Students interested in the program should email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to register or with any questions, and can take open or youth classes until the program begins.
This program is for teens (placement is always dependent on the individual student, their abilities, maturity and understanding) who want a serious, intense ballet training program in a nurturing environment. The pre-professional program is the path toward a career in ballet, but it’s not just for those wanting to be professional dancers — training at an intense level in an art like ballet is rewarding in myriad ways and benefits anyone willing to put in the time and work necessary to participate in the program. Like all our classes, instruction is designed to work with each and every body. At Thrive Ballet you do not need to have particular proportions, body composition, flexibility or other attributes - just a willingness to work hard and learn. When provided with proper instruction, any body can dance, grow, learn and thrive.
The pre-professional program involves dancing five to six days per week, with technique class plus pointe as well as modern/jazz/contemporary* instruction. Pre-pro students are required to attend conditioning classes where they will work on improving ballet technique, learning to balance strength and flexibility for injury prevention, and how to care for their bodies.
Pre-professional students will learn classical variations and Thrive Ballet repertory. Students will perform in recitals as well as have the opportunity to dance in company productions.
Students who trained with Thrive Ballet at this level have gone on to dance with State Street Ballet, Ballet 5280, Reformation Dance Company, Ballet Ariel, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Colorado Ballet, University of Utah (ballet major), Virginia Commonwealth University (dance major and professional dancer).
